Justajewel for her email made so much sense.

Connie Maturen, 72, of Desert Winds Independent Living in Peoria, Arizona, passed on January 07, 2023. Connie was born on May 26, 1950. This past Saturday at Banner Boswell in Sun City Arizona surrounded and supported by a great nursing staff and family the years of battling COPD along with RSV and Pneumonia was more then she could defeat.

She was born to Herbert and Pauline ( Winters) VanWormer of St Charles, Michigan. Were she attended St Mary's Perorical and graduted from the St Charles High School. She was one of 6 children the couple had. 1 of 4 girls, and 2 boys. Her older brother passing at birth.

As an adult she lived a atypcal life compared to most. She attended beautician school and received training to be a nursing aid. During this time she met William G Wressell ( Deceased) and had her first son William ( Bill) Wressell Jr.

Several years later found her and her son relocating to Albuquerque for an opportunity to manage an apartment complex. This was for a few years before returning to St Charles with her son to her family's love and support.

A short time would elapse and Connie would meet who would some day become her second husband John (Jack) Maturen (Deceased). This is when a move Carrollton Michigan to settle for quite sometime would happen. As well as the birth of her second son Nicholas A Maturen ( Deceased) would occur. A short time later Jack and Connie would marry and stay together until Jack's death in 2002.

During the times above Connie pursued her nursing career at Great Lakes Community College where she graduated in 1994 working for over the next 15 years at several skilled nursing facailties. St Francis, The VA Hospital, The Saginaw Community Hospital as well as finshing her career at HealthSource.

She enjoyed making and collecting jewelry, was an avid reader and watcher of anything Sci-Fi. She loved to spend time with friends and family over a cup of coffee. She really appreciated a medium rare Ribeye Steak and baked potato. She looked forward, for many years, to baking and cooking for her friends and family during holidays and summer get togethers.

For many years she enjoyed camping, boating and fishing trips to northern Michigan with her husband and sons. She was well versed at preparing and cooking the wild game and fish that was caught.

After the passing of her second husband John ( Jack) Maturen, she found solice in writing poetry. And in turn success. As she has several pieces published online and in hard cover book format. A mystery none of us knew until shortly before her passing.

In 2019 after loosing her second son Nicholas Maturen (Deceased) in 2018 and having increasingly worsening health she decided to relocate to Arizona to be closer to the last of her immediate family. Her son, daughter in law and her two beloved granddaughters. This is where we find her residing at the Desert Winds Independent Living Community. Where she lived on her own, built meaningfull relationships with her neighbors and staff.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert VanWormer, mother, Pauline (Winters) VanWormer, sisters, Karen Mayo, Beverly Kassin, Judy Ugartechea, brother Richard VanWormer, husband, Jack Maturen, and son, Nicholas Maturen.

Left to carry on her memory is her son, William Wressell Jr, daughter in law, Jennifer Wressell, granddaughters, Graciella and Hannah Wressell along with all her family members in the VanWormer, Maturen and Wressell familes. So many nieces and nephews, step family and close personal frieinds all hope to see you another day.
