Corinne Larson Benedict, 92, of Princeton, Minnesota, entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Corinne was born January 24, 1928 in Kenyon, Minnesota. She attended a one-room school until 8th grade, after which her family moved to Faribault, Minnesota. She started attending First Baptist Church in Faribault as a highschool student where she first heard the Gospel message and committed her life to Jesus Christ. She graduated from Faribault Highschool, then attended Northwestern Schools in Minneapolis for one year of Bible training.
She married Wayne Benedict in 1946. The couple had two daughters while living in Minnesota, then moved west to Portland, Oregon where Wayne would attend seminary. Corinne kept busy as a pastor's wife, mother, and secretary. Her jobs included Honeywell in Minnesota, Montgomery Ward in Portland, Oregon, Del Monte in Toppenish, Washington, and Weyerhauser in Tacoma, Washington. In 1972, Northwestern College called the family back to Minnesota where Corinne and Wayne would spend the rest of their careers serving the Lord at the college. Corinne served as the secretary to the Academic Dean and also Faculty Secretary in later years. She retired in 1996. She became grandma to six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Corinne is remembered as a loving and kind person who served her family with a gentle and quiet spirit. Everything she did, she did with her whole heart. She loved Jesus until the end of her life, and leaves that legacy to her family.
She is preceded in death by parents Anna and Julius Larson of Faribault, Minnesota; Brother Howard Larson of Moses Lake, Washington; Husband Wayne E. Benedict of Andover, Minnesota; Great-grandson Ethan Tillman of Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
She is survived by daughters Karen Sartell (Jeff) and Susan Obeng-Amoako (Samuel); Grandchildren Katie Smith (Peter), David Tillman (Jackie), John Tillman, Paul Obeng-Amoako, Philomena Obeng-Amoako, and Gloria Obeng-Amoako; Great-grandchildren Trent Smith, Dominick Smith, Tommy Smith, Benedict ("Benny") Tillman, Micah Tillman, and Jonas Tillman.
Interment was on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at Fort Snelling National Cemetary. A private memorial service and celebration of life was held in Milaca, Minnesota on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
