MILLERSBURG — Cornelius D. "Neal" Beachy, 84, of Millersburg, died at 2:01 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his home. He had been in declining health. He was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in LaGrange County, to Daniel C. and Susan (Miller) Beachy. On Oct. 6, 1949, in LaGrange County he married Alma Bontrager, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are five daughters, Sue Ann (Dennis) Hershberger of Nappanee, Rosemary (Marvin) Miller of LaGrange, Eileen (Harold) Yoder of Millersburg, Ginny (Jim) Kauffman of Millersburg, and Maggie (Nate) Schwartz of Sturgis, Michigan; six sons, Marvin (Carolyn) Beachy of Amboy, Dave (DiAnn) Beachy of Goshen, Wayne (Rosanna) Beachy of Ligonier, Timothy (Leona) Beachy of Columbia City, Paul (Janice) Beachy of Syracuse, and Sam (Heidi) Beachy of Milford; 27 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, four step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ida (Henry) Yoder of Bloomfield, Iowa, Esther (Arthur) Martin, Sarah (Jake) Stoltzfus and Barbara Bender, all of Goshen; two brothers, Harvey (Marie) Beachy and David (Mary Ellen) Beachy both of Goshen; a brother-in-law, Dan (Fern) Gingerich of Belle Center, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Irene Beachy of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alvin, Eli and Daniel Beachy, and three sisters, Katie Jones, Anna Gingerich and Susie Miller. He, along with his wife and large family, lived as a missionary in Paraguay, South America, for six years. He was employed in construction for Miller Brothers Builders for many years. Most recently he served as director of Christian Mission Charities. While serving, he traveled to many different countries until his retirement. He was a member of Fair Haven Amish Mennonite Church, where he was a minister, being ordained in 1965. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, 13513 S.R. 4, Goshen. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, also at the church. Services will be conducted by the pastoral team of the church. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Christian Mission Charities. Online condolences may be sent at
