Courtney Lee Cowan, 23, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, in South El Carmen.She was born on Aug. 31, 1990, in Las Vegas to Leslie Lee Martinez and Ramona Nicole Lopez.She graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 2008 where she was an ""A"" scholar and captain of the dance team. She also attended NMSU and Luna Community College. She was a very vivacious and happy person, with an infectious smile, big heart and very kind to everyone she met. Her unique and child-like voice will be a constant and memorable reminder forever in our hearts.She married John Clinton Cowan on May 22, 2012.She is preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Celia Martinez; great-grandfather, Santiago Jaramillo; grandmother, Veneranda ""Bennie"" Medina Lopez; aunts, Patsy Montoya and Gladys Duran; uncle, George Martinez; cousins, Stacy Katrina Ortega and Vanessa Danielle Medina.She is survived by her husband, John Clinton Cowan; father, Leslie L. Martinez and wife, Deanne; mother, Nicole Gonzales and husband, Richard; brothers, Ricky Ray Gonzales, Amador Gonzales, and Logan Martinez; sisters, RayVen Gonzales, and Taylor Martinez; grandparents, Ray A. Lopez, Consuelo Medina, Anthony Martinez and wife, Dorothy; great-grandmothers, Mary G. Funeral Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today (Monday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Anthony Akobogu as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery in San Jose with the following serving as casket bearers: Ricky Ray Gonzales, Leroy ""Tusa"" Ortega, Richard Montoya, Karl Sena, Dan Jaramillo, Chris Martinez, Elmer Martinez and Kyle Ontiveros.
