Curtis Norman, 54, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023. Curtis was born on January 12, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts to his late mother Jean Francis Norman, and his father Clarence Perkins whom resides in Boston, MA with his wife, Curtis's stepmother Brenda Perkins.
Curtis's life was filled with love and laughter. For he will forever be remembered for his humor, laugh, smile, generosity, compassion, intellect, wisdom, quick-wit, and loving spirit.
Curtis loved being a devoted father to his three children and stepson, as he always strived to show them that strong work ethic, intellect, love, compassion, honesty and a relationship with God will bring them further in their life. It is their fathers love, sense of humor, lectures and singing voice in the morning that will be missed the most.
Curtis was a true ambivert! He was very vocal, opinionated and an advocate for human rights. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He loved to spark conversations about different topics while reminiscing on the different stages in his life. He liked talking about his goals, his dogs, food and his kids. Many family members and friends found him to be affable in that sense. He will be remembered by his friends and family as someone who was kind, mannerable, sociable and never had any trouble speaking his mind and letting you know how he feels about certain topics, he never wavered on his word and always stood firmly on his beliefs.
Some of Curtis's favorite activities were, going to the movies, fishing, playing basketball, watching sports, cutting hair, collecting music, beatboxing, dancing, singing, rapping, cooking, barbecuing, traveling, spending time with his kids and parents, and exploring new parks and trails in Seattle where he exercised with his significant other or played fetch with his dogs.
Curtis had a career as a Commercial Fisherman in the late 1990's into the early 2000's. After earning his Criminal Justice degree in Seattle, WA, Curtis finished his career as a Sergeant in the Private Armed Security Forces.
Curtis is survived by his father Clarence Perkins, of Boston, MA, son Kashmiere Perkins, daughter Angelica Perkins Reed, daughter in-law Joanna Perkins, son in-law Anthony Reed of Seattle, WA, son Neil Perkins and granddaughter Cali of Boston, MA, sister Felicia Oliver of Alabama, stepmother Brenda Perkins, step brother Brandon Bryant, stepsister Derrikka Bellinger of Boston, MA, along with several nieces and nephews in WA, GA, and MA, plenty of aunts, and uncles in WA, AL, MS, MA, many cousins in MA, WA, MS and AL and his two dogs Mellow and Sheba in WA.
Curtis joins our Father God, his late mother Jean Francis Norman, late sister Audrey Norman, late stepson Richard CJ Wells, and his late grandparents, along with several late aunts and uncles in heaven.
Curtis will be forever memorialized, missed and loved, especially by his children, parents and his significant other Phyllis Tyus. As well as many of his friends, particularly his two best friends Pete, and Johnny.
In Curtis's final stages of life he was surrounded by family and love.
Curtis would like us all to remember, "you enter heaven by forgiveness and through the righteousness that Jesus gives you. You do not enter into heaven by the Christian life. It's always true that where faith is birthed, works will follow, but salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone".
A man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 2:16)
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. (Titus 3:5)
Oh Lord, let Curtis Norman, our father, rest in your arms Father God, let him be forever protected and covered by the blood of Jesus and at peace while journeying into heaven. Let the voices and love from his children forever reach him in his afterlife as we call out for his strength, wisdom and love, in Jesus name.
Amen-
