Cyrus H. "Cy" Bliss, age 82, entered into rest at his home on Wednesday November 9, 2016. He was born on February 19, 1934 in Amherst, Ohio and has lived in Avon his entire life. He graduated from Avon in 1951, attended Case Institute of Technology and graduated in 1961 from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed after graduation by Howard Needles Tammen & Bergendoff Corp. (HNTB). He later worked at the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Office where he established the Bridge/Maintenance Inspection Dept. He retired in 1997. He was a licensed professional engineer in the State of Ohio and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Avon, Ohio where he was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister and served on the Steering Committee to form the first Parish Pastoral Council. His dedication to his faith led to his involvement in the Knights of Columbus. He served as Grand Knight for #3269 Fr. Ragan Council and as Faithful Navigator of #811 Fr. McManus Assembly. Cy enjoyed farming, gardening, motorcycles, golfing and hosting many events at the Bliss Farm. His family and his many friends were his passion. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary (nee Olah) Bliss, children Robert T. Bliss, Monica (James) Weick, Brian (Lori) Bliss, and Guy J. Bliss, grandchildren Ben, Aaron, Mike, Tyler, Jimmy, Brandon, Samantha, Abbie, Nathan and Amanda, and sister Virigina Stell of Harker Heights, Tex. He was preceded in death by his parents O. Dean & Leah (nee Barnes) Bliss, and brothers George O. Bliss, Frank W. Bliss and Darwin T. Bliss. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, 36363 Detroit Rd Avon, where closing prayers will be at 8:30 AM on Saturday followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Avon. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery.
