CASTLETON - Dean David Seguin II, 35, of Castleton passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, November 16th due to medical complications. David, as we all knew him, was born on August 28, 1981 in Rutland to his father, Dean D. Seguin I, and his mother, Shirley (Coburn) Seguin. David attended Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland for two years prior to his graduation from Fair Haven Union High School in 2000. During his high school years he was a member of the football teams, and participated with the golf team. He also played CYO basketball, a sport he enjoyed playing since his childhood. He continued his education earning his Bachelors from Castleton University in 2007, and earned a Master's from the American Military University. He was currently working on another Masters Degree upon his passing, and had been inducted to the International Honor Society in Social Sciences, Pi Gamma Mu. He was a wealth of knowledge, constantly wanting to learn knew things, and was self taught in the languages of German and Farsi. David had many interests in life, whether it was talking politics and international affairs, attending a family gathering, discussing astronomy, world and family history, and sharing a story about the family dogs. David was active in the Republican party serving as a Justice of the Peace for the town of Castleton for many years. He found excitement in professional sports, rooting for the Orlando Magic, the New York Yankees, and the Green Bay Packers. David was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Castleton, where he served as an acolyte while growing up. He was a former member of the Castleton Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his parents, Dean and Shirley of Castleton, his sister Becky of Castleton, his brother Sean & Hannah of Orwell, maternal grandmother Anna Eileen (O'Rourke) Coburn of Castleton, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and the family dog Anna-Belle. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Thomas E. Coburn (2006,) and his paternal grandparents Dorthory (Dale) in 1996, and Reginald Seguin in 2009, and his Uncle Dale Seguin in 2001. He was also predeceased by his great-aunt & uncle Michael & Rita O'Rourke whom he was especially fond of. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, in Castleton. A warm reception and gathering will take place after the service at Castleton American Legion Post 50. Arrangements are under the care of Durfee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in David's honor to the Castleton Lions Club (for a scholarship in David's honor) C/O Durfee Funeral Home, P.O. Box 86, Fair Haven, VT.
