ORLAND — Dale Eugene Croghan, 80, of Orland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Northern Lakes Nursing Center, Angola, Indiana. He was born on October 15, 1934, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Elmer and Freida (Barfell) Croghan, they preceded him in death. He attended Fort Wayne Central High School. Mr. Croghan formerly lived in Fountain Valley, California. He worked as a union carpet installer for Resilient Floor and Decorative in Southern California for many years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Orland American Legion Post 423. He married Eileen (Trammel) on December 1, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she survives. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Croghan of Orland, Indiana; a son, Don Croghan of Stockton, California; two daughters, Sharon (Norm) Lucas of Costa Mesa, California, and Terry Ann Croghan of Hudson, Indiana; two granddaughters, Regina and Shannon Croghan; and six great-grandchildren, Destiny Adkins, Gage Adkins, Serenity Croghan, Kamrin Wicker, Keigan Wicker, and Makaila Wicker. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Croghan, and 11 brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana, with the Rev. Jon Bruney officiating. Military honors will be conducted by members of Elwood American Legion Post 53. Memorials are to the Orland Fire and Rescue or to Orland American Legion Post 423.
