Dale D. Wasmuth, age 81, of Brillion, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 after a battle with COPD. Dale was born on August 6, 1935 in the Town of Mitchell in Sheboygan County, son of the late William and Martha (Wittkopp) Wasmuth. He attended grade school at St. John's Lutheran in Plymouth and graduated Plymouth High School with the class of 1953. He married Blanche Pautz on August 2, 1958 at St. Peter's U.C.C. in Kiel. Dale served his country for ten years in the Army National Guard of the State of Wisconsin and spent time as active duty during the Berlin Crisis. Dale enjoyed over 60 years in the grocery business. He began his career at a little grocery store in Plymouth while still in high school. He went on to manage many A&P Stores throughout Wisconsin. He then worked for United Grocers Company in Little Chute until he purchased his own store in Reedsville in 1978. Dale owned and operated Dale's United Foods in Reedsville for 21 years until his retirement in 1999. Dale and Blanche then moved to Brillion where Dale worked in the grocery stores in the Brillion community for several more years. Dale received many awards and recognition for his efforts in the grocery business and service in community clubs and civic organizations. He was a member of the Jaycees, a member of the American Legion, a life member of the Lions Club, and a life member of AMVETS Post #1032. Dale was also a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Dale enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading newspapers, spending time at his cottage on Long Lake, watching the Brewers and Packers on TV, and taking care of his yard in Brillion. He was proud of his three sons, his grandchildren, and great-grandsons. His dedication to God, his family, and his country will never be forgotten.He is survived by his wife: Blanche Wasmuth of Brillion; three sons: Michael and Carrie (Kiekhaefer) Wasmuth of Brillion, Randall and Jenny (Wendland) Wasmuth of Wayside, and Brian Wasmuth of Reedsville. Five grandchildren: Tracie Wasmuth and special friend Jonathan Kusowski, Ty Wasmuth and special friend Courtney Kenneke, Lexi Wasmuth, Whitney Wasmuth, and Jami Wendland. Two great-grandsons: Easton Wasmuth and Jameson Costello. One brother: Roland (Margie) Wasmuth of Fond du Lac. Brother-in-laws and Sister-in-laws: Norman (Barb) Pautz of Chilton, Leroy Pautz of Kiel, Jeannette Maurer of Kiel, Vernice (Earl) Krueger of Potter, David (Sue) Pautz of Kiel, and many nieces and nephews also survived.Dale was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Elmer and Hilda (Bartel) Pautz. Brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Lois Wasmuth, Lester and Ethel Pautz, Daniel Maurer. Nephews: Donald Pautz and Wayne Pautz. Godson: Rick Larson.The funeral service for Dale will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Officiating will be Rev. Darin Aden. Entombment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, town of Kossuth. Military Honors will be accorded by the AMVETS Post #1032 of Reedsville. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.Online condolences may be made.In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.A special thank you to Dr. Matthias Fuchs and the staff at Cardiology Associates for the great care provided to Dale for 17 years.
