Dale E. MoonCamarillo, CADale E. Moon took his last breath on January 8, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his granddaughter, Vanessa and his son Ron at his side in Camarillo, CA. Wilbur and Sally Moon gave birth to Dale on June 25, 1924 in Pullman, WA. During the depression, Dale's dad, Wilbur Moon, moved his family to a small farming community in Belgrade, Nebraska where Dale attended school and graduated from high school in 1942. On July 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he was trained as a radio operator and gunner. He served in England flying B-17s and completed his tour the day his crew was forced to land in Sweden due to severe damage to aircraft. He returned home to the states and married his childhood sweetheart, Donna R. Moon on December 11, 1943. Their only child, Ronald Moon was born on Nov. 10, 1944 in Cedar Rapids Nebraska.Dale's military career included service during the Korean War as a radio operator for B 36's, service at March AFB in Riverside Ca. and attache duty in the Philippines. Dale was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1959. Dale then entered civilian life and worked at Robinson's/May Department stores as a jeweler until he had 2 heart attacks while living in Orange County.In 1991 he and his wife moved to Camarillo, California to be near their son and his family. Dale cared for his wife Donna who experienced beginning of Alzheimer's in 2001. He took care of her as long as he could but eventually had to place her in a care facility in Camarillo. He visited her every day until she passed away at the age of 91. Dale and Donna were married for 71 years. Dale is survived by his son, Ronald Moon of Camarillo. His three grandchildren, Alicia Moon Holden (CO), Vanessa Moon (Ventura), and Michael Moon (Camarillo). He has five great grandchildren, Corina and Christian Holden (Colorado), Isaiah, Mariah, and Scarlett Moon (California). His family will miss his war stories and endearing charm and sense of humor. The neighborhood on Valle Lindo Dr. will not be the same without dad. The memorial service will be held at the Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Drive, Camarillo, CA on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, Camarillo (805) 482-1166.
