Dale FellinDale Fellin, age 50, Kansas City, MO, passed away May 15, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 21, 1967 in Madill, OK to Caroline McCasland. Dale was raised in Springfield, MO by Caroline and John Fellin and graduated high school from Kickapoo High School in Springfield.He began his career in movement at the age of 14 in the world of gymnastics. By the age of 19, he was both coaching and judging women's competitive gymnastics. From the world of gymnastics, Dale ventured into dance and in 1991 he received his B.F.A. in Dance from Missouri State University. Dale has performed with The Springfield Ballet as well as Springfield Little Theatre in many productions. He studied at Hubbard Street Dance, the Joel Hall Dancers and the Chi-Town Jazz Dancers, all in Chicago. He performed with The Jimmy Rogers Theater in Branson before moving to the well-known Shoji Tabuchi Theater, where he spent seven years as Dance Director. In addition, he performed with Central Dance Theater of Omaha. In January 2004, Dale joined City in Motion Dance Theater in Kansas City, MO and then became one of their Co-Artistic Directors until he retired from dance in 2015 due to his cancer diagnosis. While his love and passion for dance never truly faded, Dale found a second passion in health care. He graduated from Park University with his Associate of Nursing Degree in 2010. He then began a new career in Psychiatric Medicine at Research Psychiatric Center. After completing his B.S.N. at the University of Missouri Kansas City, he moved to Signature Psychiatric Hospital where he eventually assumed the role of Human Resources. Throughout his years of dance and nursing, Dale developed many close friendships with the people he was surrounded by. They were his second family. Dale is survived by the love of his life, his partner, Christopher Johnson; his father, John Fellin; his sister and brother in-law, Christy and Jason Firestone; his brother and sister in-law, John Paul and Kelly Fellin; and his nephews and niece, Jake and Gracie Firestone and Jaxon and Mason Fellin.Dale is preceded in death by his mother, Carol McCasland Fellin; grandparents, Edward and Jean Fellin and Olen and Melba McCasland.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 20th from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts located at 1601 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108.
