DANIEL JAIME CALZADA Age 76, of Arleta passed away on September 7, 2016. Danny was born on July 23, 1940 to Ignacio and Sarah Calzada. Raised in a close-knit family in Pacoima, he had a special attachment to his grandmother Maria. While attending San Fernando H.S. he met his future bride Petra Ruiz. They were married on January 23, 1960 and raised three children together. "Mr. C" was a hardworking man who believed in giving his all in his youth, whether he was delivering newspapers, working at the bowling alley, or cooking at the seminary. That work ethic continued into adulthood while working as district manager for American National, doing custodial work at Disney or groundskeeping at Orcutt Ranch. Danny worked this final job for the L.A Dept. of Recreation until he was 74. Despite this workload, he always made time for what mattered most, his family. Danny enjoyed camping, Dodger baseball, USC athletics, little league games, bowling, and traveling the world with friends and family. He lived life to the fullest, even joining softball leagues well after the age of 50 with his brothers and sons. What he loved most though was spending time with his family. His grandchildren were a great source of joy to him, and they remained devoted to their Tata to the very end. His passing leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled. Danny is survived by his devoted family: wife, Petra; children, Danny Jr., Becky (Tony), and Robert (Sally); 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind loving siblings, Alfred (Gail), Nacho (Alice), Vera (Jose), Olivia (Martin), Bob (Gena), and Rich (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Alice G. and Angie; and many loved nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca; and brothers, David and Ruben. Services will be held at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:45 p.m.
