WINTHROP – Daniel J. Brace, 52, of Winthrop, died Sunday, October 16, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.He was born on August 14, 1964 in Manchester, the son of Clair and Pauline (Turley) Brace. He graduated from East Buchanan Community Schools in Winthrop with the class of 1982. Daniel married Michelle King in 1987, but later divorced in 2001. He worked for the CRANDIC Railroad for much of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also loved helping his friends and neighbors dearly.Daniel is survived by his two children: Tad (Tasha) Brace of Cedar Falls, and Alexa (Scott) Gentz of Jesup; two brothers: Richard (Connie) of Cedar Rapids, and Jim (Joan) of Winthrop; two sisters: Judy (Don) Wulfekuhle and Janet (Jon) Isham of Independence; and two grandchildren. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Clair (1985) and mother, Pauline (2014); a sister in infancy, Julianne Brace.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Reiff Funeral Home and Crematory in Independence. Friends are encouraged to wear Iowa Hawkeye or Chicago Cubs attire to the visitation.
