Daniel (Dan) Joseph Schwab, 54, of Douglas, Alaska passed away on April 16, 2015. He was born on September 17, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the fourth child in a family of six siblings, and one of its two boys. He graduated from Everett High School and took coursework toward earning his college degree. Dan had a bright, curious mind and found pleasure in reading and learning about a wide variety of subjects.Dan was close to his big brother Mike, who lived in Juneau, and sadly preceded Dan in death not long ago. Mike fell in love with Alaska and brought Dan up to Juneau from Everett, Washington, to experience the natural beauty of the region for himself. The brothers enjoyed spending time together hiking, fishing and hunting. Dan remarked how much he had come to love this place and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. He often spoke about being able to walk out the back door of his condo to cross country ski in the winter and backpack in the summer.Dan was an avid photographer and captured many of nature's splendors on film. He liked to cook, and dearly loved his cat named Hunter. Dan was a kind, gentle soul who possessed a dry, wacky sense of humor and appreciated the absurd. The Pink Panther and Monty Python were two of his favorites. The 'Galaxy' song by Monty Python never failed to make him chuckle out loud. Dan will be sorely missed by all, especially his sisters. Peace and love, sweet beloved brother. Please send condolences by signing the guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/juneauempire
