It is with great sorrow that the family of Daniel (Dan) Wayne Smith announces his passing on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the age of 74 years. Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann and his children Cassandra (Will) and Donna (Tim). Dan will also be remembered by his grandchildren, Amanda (Tim), Michael (Maria), Zachary (Taylor), Rose, Jessica, and William, as well as his great grand-daughter Amelia and his sisters Barbara and Patricia (Hulen). Dan was preceded in death by his son, Wayne (1991), his sister Betty (1991).

A native of Beech Grove, AR Dan served in the Marine Corps between 1961-1965 and was stationed at El Toro, California. After his time in the Marines, Dan returned to Arkansas and then moved to St. Louis, MO in 1966 where he went to work with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft where he worked until he went to work for the Missouri Pacific Rail Road as a switchman and then a yardmaster. Dan retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2004.

Dan was an avid reader, a lifelong learner, and politically passionate. His greatest joy in life was his family.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Thursday July 12, 2018. Service will immediately follow the visitation.
