Danny Jay Garcia, 49, passed away Friday, December 4, 2011 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was born on January 5, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee.Danny served 4 years in the United States Navy from 1982-1986. He was employed as a fork lift driver. At his passing he was employed with Americold Industries in Dubuque, Iowa. Danny attended elementary school in Memphis, Tennessee until his family moved to Oxnard, California in 1970. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1980. He had many hobbies including collecting sports cards, Bonsai plants, gardening and remote control cars.Danny is survived by his wife, Irma; daughters, Elaine and Sharae; daughter-in-law, Christina; parents, Arthur and Katie Garcia; sisters, Teri (Gregory) County and Carmen Garcia; nephews, Kevin, Ryan and Todd Fleener, Gregory and Michael County; great-nephews, Elijah County and Dion Houston; great-niece, Serena Fleener; grandchildren, Santana, Miya and Jazzlyn as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cruz and Carmen Garcia, James and Ethel Brister.Our husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle has left our family much too soon. His passing has left a tremendous hole in our hearts as well as the huge number of more family and friends than we can count. He kept in constant contact with those he could and always ended a conversation with "I Love You!" Someone once told me "God takes the chosen ones first."A memorial service 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Johnson Mortuary. At 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011 Danny's family and friends will have a farewell gathering at Silver Stand Beach in Oxnard, California where they will scatter his ashes.
