Danny W. Priest, 61, Monticello, passed away at 10:11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at his home with his family by his side.He was born on June 18, 1955, in Francesville, to Carol Sue (Deck) Priest and the late Paul Alva Priest. He was first married to Kathy Wayne; she passed away in 1976. Then on August 13, 1977, at the Monticello City Park, he married Tammy Rose Maxson; she passed away on Oct. 14, 2010. Danny had lived in White County most all his life. He had been in failing health for the last several years, and actually passed away from a broken heart after losing his wife, Tammy Rose.Danny was a member of the
VFW Post #2231 of Monticello. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Danny was on the Monticello Fire Department for several years.He would help everyone and everybody. Danny was a United States Army Veteran.Surviving are son, Robert Paul "Bob" (Trina) Priest, Monticello; daughters, Danna Lee (Eric "Beaner") Fischer, Monticello (Carroll County), and April (Shane) Whiteman, Winamac; grandchildren, Katherine, Kenny, Jacob, and Lilly Priest, Darrin and Eric Fischer, and Logan Whiteman; mother, Carol Sue Hooker, Lafayette; siblings, Vicki Ledman, Lafayette, Alva "Butch" Priest, Monticello, Jamie (companion Mark Paige) Revalee, Monticello, Jimmy (Jennifer) Priest, Lafayette, Kelley (Jennifer) Martinez and Anthony Martinez, both of California; father-in-law, Jimmy (Suzanne) Maxson, Monticello; brothers-in-law, Robert "Bob" (Barb) Wayne, Monon, Jim (Jacquelyn "Sis") Maxson, and Jerry (Allison) Maxson, both of Monticello; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Danny was preceded in death by his father, Paul Alva Priest; step–father, Jerry Hooker; infant brother, Clarence Caryle "Petie" Priest; wives, Kathy (Wayne) Priest and Tammy Rose (Maxson) Priest; and mother-in-law, Rosalee Maxson.Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello followed by a visitation to 8 p.m. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday with Brother Doug McCombs officiating.Burial will be private for the family.
