This obituary is administered by:

A Man of Faith

Danny William Roberts, 65, passed on August 19, 2020. He was born to William Albert Sloan and Analou Price in Waukegan, Illinois on November 23, 1954. He was preceded in death by his father William Albert Sloan.

Danny grew up in Zion, IL and attended Zion Benton High School, where he played football and basketball. On July 9, 1974 he married his high school sweet heart, Patricia Durham and they started their life together. They had three children, Jeremy W. Roberts (Kelly Dickhart), Dana L. Bodero (Robert Bodero) and Adam B. Roberts (Jaclyn Roberts) and in 1980 Dollie Wilson was fostered into the family as child number 4.

After the birth of all of his children, he set out on a path to become an ordained minister at North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. He was actively involved as a youth minister and missions while pursuing his Bachelors degree. During college he continued his great love of basketball as part of the NCBC Chiefs as a player and then as a womens basketball coach. He graduated in 1985 and moved his family to Beaver Dam, WI to take on the roll as head youth pastor of Praise Assembly of God Church.

After years of service in the church as a youth pastor, he was diagnosed with pulmonary Sarcoidosis and he spent the next decade battling this crippling disease. Over the years he helped Patricia build a highly successful cleaning business in the norhern Illinois area. In 2007 Dan and Pat sold the company and moved to Texas in the hope of better health and to fulfill his dream of being a cowboy on a ranch.

Over the next thirteen years he became a well respected member of the South Texas oil field community while building a home and ranch with his bare hands. Dan and his family made Living Water Fellowship in Pleasanton Texas their church home. He leaves behind his wife Patricia, children Jeremy, Dana, Adam and Dollie, his mother Analou, brothers and sisters: Keith (Julie) Baldwin, Linda (Frank) Leone, Brenda (Roger) Ivey, David, Johnny Ray (Carol) Sloan, Robin (Jennifer) Sloan, Tommy (Dana) Sloan, Eric (Lauren) Sloan, Brenda (Jimmy) Cruse, Sandy (Rick) Stovall, Jo (Rick) Conaway and Wanda Sloan along with 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.

Danny was a man of great faith and integrity, always kind, gentle and ready to put a smile on your face. He had a fierce love for Jesus, his family and friends. His only desire was to leave a legacy of Jesus to everyone he met.
