YORK Darla Lee (Sullivan) Deardorff, having served her purpose on Earth, went to be with her Lord in Eternal Security on Monday, December 22, 2014. She was married for 52 years to Richard E. Deardorff who died in 2004. Darla was born on February 9, 1936, in York, to the late Margaretta (Long) McCauslin and the late Archie K. Sullivan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York, with a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Darla attended West York High School. She was a life long member of West Poplar Street Church of God where she served on the church council for many years. She was the first woman to serve as an Elder and later was made a Life Elder. She served as Financial Secretary for the church. She taught Sunday school for many years, first the Children's Department, then the Adult "Pyramid" class for over 35 years. She was a member of the Women's WCTU and the Missionary Society before they merged. Darla became a Covenant Participant at Emmanuel U.C.C. in 2013. Darla retired in 1998 from Honeywell in York after 19 years of service. Darla leaves five children, Ricki Deardorff Smith, Betsy Deardorff Anderson, Karen Deardorff Westover, Jon C. Deardorff, and Susan Deardorff Reimold. She leaves eight grandchildren, Steven C. Kress, Jenny Kress Rinker, Jaimee Keech Holt, Kevin Westover, Rebekah Westover, Alysssa Deardorff, Brandon Deardorff, and Kelly Reimold. Also left are 10 great-grandchilren, Larissa Rinker, Allyson Rinker, Julia Rinker, Tyler Kress, Lindsay Kress, Haley Westover, Kaleb Westover, Donovan Frantz, Alaina Holt, Madison Holt, Abigail Holt, and Noah Frysinger; a sister, Karen E. Warner and her husband, Karl, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Horn and her husband, David. Preceding her in death were a grandson, Timothy Buckingham; a great-grandson, Blaze Holt; and two brothers, Archie Sullivan, Jr. and Charles E. Sullivan. Send Condolences at
