Darlene CarlsonDarlene Lavonne Carlson, 93, died peacefully January 31, 2017. Services will be held 11:30 AM February 4, 2017, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation with the family present will be held before and after the service. Lunch will served after the service at Our Savior's gathering hall. Private family burial will be before the services. Darlene was born on October 8, 1923, on a farm in rural Lake Benton, MN. She was the daughter of Oscar and Rose (Koster) Trautman, Lake Benton, MN. She graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1941. Darlene married Elmer E. (Swede) Carlson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Lake Benton. They moved to Long Beach, CA. during World War II. They returned to Sioux Falls and started an electrical contracting business. Darlene was active in that business until the mid-1980s. Darlene was devoted to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, and traveling in their motor home. Darlene loved visiting the Florida Gulf beaches. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for over fifty years. Darlene and her family bless all her friends and neighbors. You were a blessing to her during her lifetime and especially during those lonely times in her last few years. We are confident that Darlene is in that place where all the faithful are called by Jesus. She is waiting for us now. Survivors include daughter, Vicki (Michael) Earnest of Okoboji, IA; sons, Gary (Jo) Carlson and Richard Carlson of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Scott Carlson, Carrie Gulickson, Lisa Mannes, John Earnest, Aaron Carlson, Andy Carlson; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. (Swede); parents, Oscar & Rose Trautman; brothers, Harvey and Norbert (Vivian) Trautman; sister, Ruth (Jim) Gurnon; three great-grandchildren, Jayson & Joseph Carlson, and Megan Gulickson.
