Dathene Vineyard TULIA-Dathene (Stark) Vineyard, 88, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kress United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Dathene was born on Jan. 29, 1928, east of Kress on her parent's ranch. Her parents were Barney Clay Stark and Grace Amanda McCoy Stark. She was one of eight children. She attended grade school at Price and went to Kress for high school. She was very active in sports and acrobatics and was an all-around good student. She graduated from Kress High School in 1945. She married James Vineyard on Oct. 27, 1945. To this union they had two children, a son, Ronnie and a daughter, Roxie. They were a happy family, they worked hard together. Dathene helped James on the farm and ranch where they raised a lot of good Hereford cattle. Dathene was a good horse woman. She rode the barrels at many rodeos and won a lot of awards. She was a member of the Kress United Methodist Church where the family attended. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her seven siblings. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Vineyard and wife, Sydna of Lampasas; a daughter, Roxie Godfrey and husband, David of Lubbock; six grandchildren: Syd Vineyard, Zach and Shana Vineyard, Georgia Godfrey, Clint and Kim Godfrey, Jill Godfrey and Clay Godfrey; and two great-grandchildren, Emory Vineyard and James Godfrey.
