RACINE - David Allen Onnink, 59, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from a sudden exacerbation of chronic illnesses at the Physicians Regional Hospital in Knoxville, TN. He was en route, returning home following a reunion with family in NC. He was born on December 5, 1953 to the late Allen and Florence Onnink in Racine, Wisconsin. He was a life-long resident of Racine and graduate of J.I. Case High School. Mr. Onnink received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1976 and his M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Parkside in 1987. David grew up enjoying camping, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, downhill skiing, football, basketball, track & field, baseball and golf. While in school, he worked in his lawn mowing and landscaping business, as a Fuller Brush salesman, and in concrete construction. Later he was employed in telephone systems sales, as a real estate broker/appraiser/ investor and landlord. As founder of Onnink Realty, he managed an array of rental properties in Racine County. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Racine, Wisconsin and a former member of the Racine Jaycees. He is survived by two sisters, Marcia Koenig and husband Evan, and Patricia Onnink; one brother, Paul Onnink and his wife Ann; and four nieces and nephews. The family is planning a private memorial ceremony for Mr. Onnink in North Carolina where his parents are at rest.
