David AckersLancaster: David A. Ackers died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Pickering House after battling a very rare cancer. He was born on September 27, 1943 to the late Clara M. and Floyd W. Ackers.He was a 1961 Lancaster High School graduate.David truly loved life and was one of the "good guys". He was very thoughtful, would help a friend, and had a great sense of humor. He loved his home and family and was always "game" to fix anything. He was a hard worker and retired from Anchor Hocking after 41 years. He loved the Lord and became a member of the Israel Lutheran Church later in life.David enjoyed the outdoors. If anyone ever had a "green thumb", David had it. He grew and exhibited roses, accomplishing top honors at many rose shows in the Buckeye District and nationally within the American Rose Society. He loved to share his knowledge of roses and was awarded the title of Master Consulting Rosarian. It was common for him to share beautiful bouquets of roses with friends. David is survived by his wife of 44 years and the love of his life, Lois "Susie" Ackers; sister, JoAnn Ackers (Donald) Lape; brother-in-law, Gerry A. (Julie) Bay; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Maurie) Egan and Janice (Joe) Redoutey; many loving nieces and nephews; and friend and special neighbor, Kevin Moore. David was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Ackers.David belonged to the American Rose Society, Lancaster Rose Club, Huntington Rose Society, Anglers Paradise Club, Israel Lutheran Church, and the Olivedale Senior Citizen Center.Caring cremation has taken place through the FRANK E.
