David Alan Grube, age 53, of DeMotte, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at his home. Dave was born on Nov. 30, 1961, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the son of Allen and Arlene (Kingma) Grube, who survive.Dave was a 1980 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School and Vincennes University. On June 29, 1996, Dave married the love of his life Carol (Essenburg) and with that union, they had one daughter, Emma. Dave loved working with his dad at Grube Construction for over 30 years. He was an active member of the American Reformed Church in DeMotte, where he served as a deacon, elder, youth leader and Sunday school teacher. Dave served on the boards of DeMotte Christian School and Oak Grove Christian Retirement Center. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dave will be missed by his dog, Buddy. He enjoyed bowling and having coffee with the men in town. Dave had a passion for Christ, and studying God's word was a central part of his life.Dave leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Carol, and his daughter, Emma; parents, Allen and Arlene Grube of DeMotte, sister, Julie (Chris) Shea of DeMotte; mother and father-in-law, Martin and Barbara Essenburg of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Marty (Deb) Essenburg, Tim (Joni) Essenburg and Michael (Kim) Essenburg; and several nieces and nephews. .Friends may visit on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 from 2 - 8 p.m. CST at the American Reformed Church, DeMotte. Funeral Service will be held at the American Reformed Church on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dan Jelsma officiating. Internment will be held at the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte.Memorial contributions may be made to the Bible League International or donors' choice.
