Hagge, David Arlo Dec. 2, 1935 - Dec. 1, 2015 David Arlo Hagge died Tuesday Dec. 1, 2015 in Port Charlotte, FL. The funeral will be held Dec. 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. David was born on Dec. 2, 1935, in Ames, IA to Arlo and Vera (Kennard) Hagge. He graduated from Ames High School and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Education from Iowa State University. He taught Auto Mechanics at both Clinton and Boone High Schools before moving from Iowa to Florida. In Florida, he ran an Automotive Shop and an Amoco Service Station for 20 years. His passions were his family, being able to repair anything and teaching others how to as well. He was also passionate about watching, playing, and coaching soccer and teaching whoever would try to water ski. He coached and served on the board of the Venice Area Soccer Association, coached the first Women's soccer team at Venice High School and coached at the YMCA. He also coached Men's soccer at both Venice and Lemon Bay High Schools. When he travelled with Ann to Alaska after retirement, they taught as volunteers at the Headstart program in Homer, AK, and then taught a Hands-on Science program at West Elementary in Arcadia upon returning to Florida. He got great enjoyment from teaching others and watching them succeed. He was a caring person and loving father who spread his love for life and learning to his children and others he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife Ann (Rushton) Hagge and his children, Joseph Hagge and wife Julia in Tampa, FL, Sara (Hagge) Calhoun and husband Jay Calhoun in Holmes Beach, FL, Ericka Hagge and fiancé Walter Wofford in Lexington, KY, and Christopher Hagge in Orlando, FL. His grandchildren include Jessica, David and Jeremiah Hagge, Jared and Justin Calhoun, and Wren Wofford, and great grandson Jacob Calhoun. David is also survived by his siblings Nancy and Richard Woodley, Dike, IA, Mary and Randall Ketelsen, Englewood, FL, Christine and Steven Pace, Cedar Rapids, IA, sister-in-law Judith (Rushton) Hagge, Sun City, FL as well as nieces and nephews in Washington, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Washington DC, Georgia and China, and a dear family friend, Louis Lawson, North Port, FL.
