Kline, David B.David B. Kline, age 73, of Painted Post, NY died Monday, November 6, 2017 in Painted Post.Dave was born on May 15, 1944 in Elmira, NY to Robert and Marion (Plympton) Kline. He grew up in Canandaigua. Dave joined the
army in 1962 and served as a medic during the
Vietnam war. After completing his tour, he served as a medical officer in the US Coast Guard. Dave received his nursing certification from Monroe Community and continued his education at Empire State College where he earned his RN and a business degree. While living in the Rochester area he continued to help the servicemen as a nurse at several VA hospitals. Dave also started a homecare company, Safe Care. After moving to Seattle, Washington, he owned a Medical recruiting company. Dave returned home to New York for his retirement years. Dave loved flying planes, travel, photography, and fishing, and was always ready for a new experience. He was both an avid reader and a tireless storyteller. He was also a believer in people, he wanted to know them, hear their stories, interact with them. He was always quick to help anyone, however he could. David described himself as an "opinionated left leaning liberal" and was known to his online followers as the guy with the hat, Citizen Kline. Dave was an active and supportive member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated 43 years sober in September. He is survived by three children, Jason Kline of Victor, NY; David (Marsden) Kline, II of Westport, CT; Dr. Emily (Ganesh) Speelmon of Dayton, OH; his loving companion, Jackie Carpenter of Painted Post, NY; sister: Rita O'Neil of Canandaigua, NY; granddaughters, Halliwell and Addison Kline; nephews, Mike Reed and Patrick Reed; several other nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his brother, Robert; and sisters, Sheila, and Jane. Dave insisted that he lived a full and happy life, he didn't get cheated one bit. Memorial donations may be made in Dave's name to Corning Community Food Pantry, PO Box 1255, Corning, NY 14830. Dave's family has entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
