David Calvillo “Chato” Ramos, 87, of El Rio, entered eternity on January 9, 2014. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.A celebration of Chato’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 17 at 4050 Market St. in Ventura. Pastor Larry Reichardt of South Coast Fellowship will be officiating.David was born in Santa Paula, CA to Emma and David Ramos on March 23, 1926. He was a WWII veteran and paratrooper in the US Army. Returning from the service he married Alice Martinez and was committed to her in marriage for 66 years.He was preceded in death by his son, David P. Ramos; parents, David and Emma Ramos; sister, Viola Sanchez; and brother, Ralph Ramos.David is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Liz Ayala (Donald), Danny Ramos, Charlie Ramos, Fred Ramos (Maryann), Betty Castaneda (Bobby), Sandie Bautista (Ray); sister, Madeline (Nena) Sabedra; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.We are deeply grateful for the musical gift that you shared and imparted to us; the music ministry that you and mom shared together touched many lives.We will miss our walks in your beautiful garden. You were generous to everyone, not only with the fruits of your labor but also with your time and advice. You have left a profound impact on everyone who knew you.Thank you for being such a man of honor and a man whose life was hidden in Christ.Special thanks to Pastor Larry Reichardt of South Coast Fellowship and dad’s church family for all their prayers, love and support.
