David D. Lamm72, Indianapolis, passed away May 12, 2017. He was born on Nov. 8, 1944 in Anderson to the late Robert Corwin and Martha Lamm. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy, sons Matt (Anna) and Stephen (Heather), two grandchildren, Augie and Flora, sister Karen (David) Martinez, and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.David had a long career in service to the country and its environment. A Purdue University graduate and veteran, David worked for the National Park Service, Indiana State Board of Health, Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Boone County Solid Waste District. David was past-president of the Indiana Environmental Health Association and member of the Central Indiana Technical and Environmental Society (CITES). Among other career achievements, David developed a county-wide program for the safe disposal of needles, and advocated for a chipped tire recycling program.David was also a long-time member of Northwood Christian Church where he served as deacon and choir member. A keen golfer, photographer, euchre player, mechanic, writer, and amateur genealogist, his zest for life and enthusiasm for conversation belied his long struggle with ALS. He spent his final hours surrounded by friends and family and will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Services will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Northwood Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the ALS Association of Indiana (
