David Ellsworth HardinMarch 2, 1934 - August 28, 2014David Ellsworth Hardin, 80, passed away at home on Thursday, August 28, 2014. He was born on March 2, 1934 in Cashmere, Washington to Earnest Ellsworth Hardin and Verna Lucille Warner. He attended the first grade in Oroville, Washington. He also attended grade school in Wallula, Washington. He graduated the eighth grade from Paine Elementary and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School in Milton Freewater, Oregon in 1952, both in Milton Freewater, Oregon. He was very involved in high school and served as the secretary for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) his Junior and Senior Year. He was fortunate enough to attend the State FFA Convention in his Junior and Senior Year and also attend the National FFA Convention his senior year in Kansas City. He was also a member of the Hi-Y, which was a high school YMCA group.After high school, he went to work drilling wells for his Uncle Frank Conley in Marysville, California. Later he worked for Lockwood Graders in Rupert, Idaho and later transferred to Idaho Falls. He was also employed with Tri-County Equipment in Rexburg, Idaho from 1970 to 2000. David went on to serve in the National Guard for 8 years, from 1951-1959.On May 11, 1956 he married Bonnie Louise Hruza in Rupert, Idaho. They honeymooned in the Grand Canyon. Together they have lived in various locations throughout Idaho: Malta, Albion, Rupert, Idaho Falls, Rexburg and Pocatello. David enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with kids and grandkids. He enjoyed conversations on farming and farm equipment. He loved to watch sports with his kids and grandkids. He loved reading and solving jigsaw puzzles. He made several ATV trips around the Frank Church Wilderness Area. Vacations were spent traveling to historical sites in the Northwest. He was a member of Christ Church and sang in the choir. David loved God and worshipping Him with song.David is survived by: his wife, Bonnie Louise Hruza Hardin, Chubbuck; children, Brent (Raelene) Hardin, Taylorsville, UT, Micheal (Rosemarie) Hardin, Rexburg, Lynette (Nathan) Hardin LaGrone, New Meadows, ID, Gary (Bonnie) Hardin, Pocatello, Carol (Tommy) Hardin Walker, Pocatello & Scott (Denielle) Hardin, Beloit, KS; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by; his parents and sister, Verna Hardin Miller.Funeral services for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Interment will take place in the Rupert Cemetery in Rupert, Idaho. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
