David F. Grundl David Frank Grundl passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 1, 2017 in Olympia, Washington. He was born on September 2, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Cora (Dionne) Grundl. David graduated from Waukesha High School in Wisconsin, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June 30, 1955 to June 29, 1963. He married Grace R. Stearns on October 9, 1971 in Reseda, California. He was a policeman with the Los Angeles Police Department from 1963 to 1983, and was owner/operator of David's Custom Carpentry. David loved hiking, and backpacking, sailing and boating, and furniture and boat building. He had a passion for working with youth: he was involved with LAPD and YMCA youth camps, and was a church youth director. He was on the board of directors of the LAPD Christian Fellowship, was a Retired Marine Corps League Chaplain, and member of Westwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Grace Ruth Grundl; son, Donald Alan Grundl (Lisa); daughter, Tammy Lynn Grundl; grandchildren, Amanda Grace, Jesse Michael, Zachary David, and Kayla Christine; and great granddaughter, Maliyah Jaylin. David's parents and brothers, Mark and John, preceded him in death. Services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Westwood Baptist Church, 333 Kaiser Road NW, Olympia, WA.
