David Lee Ramsey, 64 years of Columbia City, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at Miller's Oak Pointe. Born September 19, 1958, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, he was the son of Gerald "Jerry" and Arveta (Ferren) Ramsey. 

While growing up in Michigan, Dave attended school in Grand Rapids until his family moved to Whitley County, Indiana when he was in the 6th grade. Dave went on to graduate from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1978. Dave worked for Morsches Lumber/ Builders Mart for several years before moving to Wyoming and Arizona where he had worked at Walmart. Due to declining health, he was forced to retire and moved back to Columbia City. 

Dave is survived by his mother, Arveta Ramsey; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Todd Deutsch; brother-in-law, Brian Knepple; aunt, Theresa Sturgeon; Granddaughter Amy Bowers and his four Greatgranchildren Shania Counts, Makayla Bowers, Andrew Bauer, and Scott Bowers, four nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Ramsey and sister, Rhonda Knepple. 

Private family services were held August 23rd, 2023. Memorial donations may be given in memory to the donor's choice. Donations may be mailed to DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
