What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
David Leigh Krollpfeiffer, 69, of Arroyo Grande, California, passed away on October 19, 2022. He was born in Burlingame, California, December 23, 1952, to Robert and Betty Krollpfeiffer, both who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters Cathy, Lin and Victoria, his three children Robyn, Cody and Kallie and his beloved grandson, Luke.David grew up in Los Altos California. He attended Portola Elementary School, Egan Junior High and graduated from Los Altos High in 1971. Known as ‘Buzz” to his sisters and later “Krolo” to his mates, he was lucky to grow up on a tight-knit cul- de-sac in a wonderful neighborhood with lifelong friends and so many special memories. The whole family, David in particular, was blessed when Andrew Tink came to stay with them for his senior year abroad at LAHS. David was fortunate to have gained an Australian brother and dear friend for life.David always had a penchant for hats beginning with a Davey Crocket Coon Skin Cap at age 3. He grew up with his father’s passion for alpine skiing. He was a Boy Scout, played Little League baseball, and later loved volleyball, tennis and sailing. From an early age David wanted to be a cowboy and as a teen, loved the summer he spent as a ranch hand on his Great Aunt and Uncle’s ranch in Loomis, Washington. His last hat was a Stetson he planned to wear at his daughter Kallie’s wedding.David attended Colorado State University in Boulder and pursued a Business Management Degree at Sacramento State in California. He joined his Dad at Electrical Materials in Palo Alto, later moving to San Diego and helping to establish Balboa Electric before moving to Colorado with his young family and beginning a career with Home Depot.David was married to Cynthia Leis for 19 years, and they had 3 children. Their two sons Robyn and Cody Krollpfeiffer, were born in San Diego and they soon moved to Colorado where they adopted their daughter Kallie Krollpfeiffer (now Heinz). For six years, the family helped foster several children and at-risk teens. David enjoyed sharing his love of skiing with his kids and took them on camping and fishing adventures. Having such a big heart and fun loving spirit, David loved his time with family and friends, listening to music, cooking, baking cookies, sharing humorous stories and jokes, and showing folks around the places he knew and loved.Once his children had grown, David moved back to the West Coast, living on Vashon Island and in Port Angeles, Washington where he reunited with his high school sweetheart, now companion, Sandra Mitro. David and Sandy moved from her Los Altos home to Arroyo Grande, California in 2020. Together they spent time at the beach where they had recently seen great white sharks in the waves and watching sunsets, wildlife and even SpaceX launches from their lovely deck. David was always grateful and ever delighted by the creative and whimsical energy Sandy brought to his life. To add to that delight, he became a Grandude to his first grandson, Luke James, born to Kallie and Kyle in 2020.David will be missed by many.
