David Lynn AdamsCamarillo, CADavid "Dave" AdamsCamarillo, CADavid Lynn Adams passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2017 after a 29 year courageous battle with cancer and multiple complications. Despite inconceivable complications, surgeries, and hospitalizations, he always maintained an unwavering strength and positive spirit that inspired all around him.Dave was born on March 9th, 1943 in Los Angeles to Don and Melba Adams. He graduated from Radium High School outside of Larned, Kansas in 1961. It was at Radium that he met the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Marilyn Adams. Dave and Marilyn were married in 1962 and moved to the San Gabriel Valley. They had 2 sons, Gary and Chris. While supporting a young family, Dave worked full time and went to night school at California State, Los Angeles, receiving a degree in electrical engineering in 1972.After graduation, he began a long and distinguished career in civil service with the U.S. Navy. He was an engineer and manager, working with AEGIS and EW systems at PMTC and NSWES. In 1974 the family moved to Camarillo. He went back to school and received a Master's in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1991 (of which he was an avid Trojan sports fan). He retired from the Navy in 2011 with numerous merits and awards, including the Meritorious Civilian Service award. From 1981 to 1984, he and his family lived in New Jersey and Mississippi while he worked on the Mobil Engineering team for the production and ship integration of EW systems for the USS Yorktown. The family traveled extensively throughout the east coast during this time with many fond memories, including the long drive out and back in a U-Haul truck while towing a Plymouth Horizon, followed by their Chevy Caprice. They kept in contact using CB radios. Dave's handle was Missile Man.Dave and Marilyn are long time active members of the United Methodist Church in Camarillo. Dave had a tremendous love for music and sang in the choir. He had an incredible tenor voice and sang many solos. In 1997, Dave and Marilyn were blessed with triplet granddaughters and 2 years later a grandson. Dave so enjoyed watching his grandchild grow up, attending many of their sports and school events. His grandchildren have brought so many joys to Dave and Marilyn. The joys provided positive emotional support during the difficult medical times.Dave was an organized, analytical, humble and soft spoken soul that touched so many lives. He will be missed immensely by his family, church family, and many friends. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sons Chris Adams, Gary Adams, and son in law Rob DeGruttola. Granddaughters Brooke Adams, Kayley Adams, Sarah Adams and Grandson Ryan Adams. Sisters Dawna Adams and Diana Lunsford. A special thank you to Diana for spending the past 3 months away from home helping with care, and to the wonderful staff at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital.
