He was born on August 8, 1957 in Des Moines to Martin and Hazel (Vestal) Johnson. He worked for the Des Moines School District for 37 years. He is survived by his son, Josh (Heather), granddaughter, Mya, mother Hazel, brother Tim (Shirley), sister, Jeanette (Keith), and 5 nieces and nephews.David was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his granddaughter, family, and friends. He loved music (Bob Dylan) and writing poetry (he had several pieces of poetry published in the National Library of Poetry), and he appreciated the simple, but most important things in life.The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 11, at the Iles Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Ave, in Des Moines. The funeral services will be private.
