David Martinez, 94, a resident of Las Vegas entered eternal life peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016. He was born on Oct. 7, 1922 in El Empierdado, N.M. He was a member of The Morada de Nuestra Señora Dolores Sheridan, and Sociedad de San Antonio - Los Montoyas. He worked as a trackman for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years. He loved his family very much and was a strong-willed, hardworking man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Catalina Martinez; grandson, Randy Martinez; sons, Roger Martinez and Reynaldo Martinez; father-in-law, Adolfo Ulibarri. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Martinez; sons, Gerald Martinez and wife, Rita, Gilbert Martinez and wife, Kathy, all of Las Vegas, William Martinez and wife, Deborrah, of Albuquerque, Juan Martinez, Jose Martinez and wife, Judy, all of Las Vegas; and his one and only daughter his "consentida," Geraldine Baca and husband, Jonas, of Las Vegas; two sisters, Marylou Gallegos and husband, Charlie, from Albuquerque, Eva Aragon of Las Vegas, and one brother, Juan Martinez and wife, Pat, from Albuquerque; grandchildren, Francine Martinez Romero and husband, Rocky, all of Albuquerque, Tanya Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev., Matthew Martinez, Sharon Martinez, all of Albuquerque; Lakersha Montaño and husband, Steven, of Santa Fe, Angel Martinez, Aurelia Martinez, both of Albuquerque, William Martinez Jr. and wife, Dominique, of Tecolote, Joseph "Joey" Martinez of Albuquerque, Janis Baca-Ramos and husband, Rudy, of Las Vegas, N.M., Enrique Cavazos and wife, Lindsay, of Tijeras, Reyna Martinez, Amor Martinez, both of Las Vegas, N.M., and Christopher Martinez of Española; two special grandsons, Roger Martinez and wife, Sharon, of Albuquerque, Miguel Martinez and fiancée, Destiny Lucero, of Las Vegas; also surviving him are 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and many special friends. Rosary service was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. Funeral service was held at 9 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment followed at Los Montoya's Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Miguel Martinez, Jose Martinez, Roger Martinez, Joseph "Joey" Martinez, Jonas Baca, Marcus Trujillo, Nikko Baca and William Martinez Jr. Honorary bearers were his remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visit Rogers Mortuary's website at
