Glezen, David Royce Nov. 19, 1928 - Nov. 1, 2015 After a long illness, David R. Glezen of Hendersonville, NC passed away on November 1, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Asheville, NC. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 yrs. & step daughter Christianne Cottrell of Seattle, WA. He was born on November 19, 1928 to the now deceased Dr. Roy J. & Ruth Glezen, in Denver City, Colorado. He had one sibling Carolyn Gail Mead, also deceased. He had no children. Other survivors are, nephew, Mike Mead /wife Lynn of Seattle, WA./sons Christopher & Neal, niece Margo Wallace /husband Bill Michaud, of Black Mtn. NC, /son Sean & daughters Cayce & Suzanne, niece Kristen Ellwell /husband Greg of Sarasota, FL /daughters Linse & Kelly. Also, David's closest and life long friend Dr. Duncan McDonald & wife Sandy of Holladay, Utah. David graduated from Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro, VA and attended Colorado State College in Colorado Springs, CO. He joined the Air Force and served in Korea. He was in the intelligence unit and was an investigator on the UFO Blue Book Project. After discharge from service, he became a Private Investigator and ran his own Detective Agency in Washington, DC. He later moved to Sarasota, FL. where he tended bar at the Colony Beach Club and later at The Poor Man's Stork Club. In 1980 he and his wife moved to North Carolina where he continued bartending for several yrs. at the Grove Park Inn. Before retiring, he worked at Summey Outdoor Advertising as Art Director and Illustrator for 4 yrs. David was a kind and gentle man who held great respect for his family and all those he knew. He had a wonderful sense of humor, which made it a delight and fun to be in his company. He always had a story to tell. We all will miss him greatly. Services with Military Honors will take place at The Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mtn., NC at 2:00 PM, on David's Birthday, November 19, 2015. Flowers or attendance is welcome.
