David Salas, 61, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Friday at the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho. He was born on Aug. 27, 1953, to Juan Salas and Aurora Marquez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Salas and Aurora Trujillo and his step-father, Hilario Roybal.He is survived by three sons, David Salas and wife, Misty and Aaron Salas and companion, Christine, all of Las Vegas, and Aiden Salas of Rio Rancho; two sisters, Antonia Caro and husband, Jesus and Charlotte Roybal, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Jerry Salas and wife, Linda and Steve Roybal of Las Vegas, and four grandchildren, Adia, Elisa, David, and Megan Salas; his ex-wife, Pauline Salas; mothers of his children, Pauline Gonzales and Kortney Gonzales; nephews, Jesusito and Pancho; nieces, April and companion, Carl, Geri and husband, Chris, Sherry and husband, Adolpho; great-nieces, and nephews, Michael, Jerry, Aiden, Arryn, Ace, Troy and Kamryn.David was an asphalt tester and worked for the New Mexico Highway Department, Billingsley Engineering, and CA 2 Asphalt Testing. His favorite pastime was fishing and watching his Pittsburgh Steelers football team. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday. Father Douglas Mitchell will be celebrating the Mass. Serving as casket bearers will be: Fred Marquez, Jesus Caro, Henry Gonzales, Pancho Caro, Javier Ramirez, and Navor Trujillo. Cremation will follow and the interment will be at a later date in Mt.
