David T. Winger

David (Dave/Dad/Dada/Pop Pop) Winger, beloved husband and proud father and grandfather, passed away on August 18, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on November 20, 1941, to James A. Winger and Elizabeth M. Pullease.

Dave married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kay Kahle, in 1966. Together, they raised two children, Kristi Ryan (Jeff) and Jake Winger (Katherine), and were blessed with five grandchildren - Selah, James, Amelie, Levi and Darcie.

He attended Oil City High School, graduating in 1959, before furthering his education at Clarion University, B.S., and University of Miami (FL), where he obtained his Masters of Education in 1968.

Dave had a successful career working at CTB McGraw Hill, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Inc., and Seminole County Public Schools, retiring in 2008.

Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, savoring a good meal, playing and coaching tennis and baseball, watching sports and sneaking snacks to his favorite dogs, Sparkle, Holly and Mia.

Dave will be remembered for his generosity, always welcoming you with your favorite candy, making you laugh, his love of list-making, asking if you were weird and hosting "weird" parties, and his unconditional love support for his family. A casual celebration of life is scheduled for December in Florida. Dave's family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at heroes.stjude.org/tweedy2024. Please put "In Memory of David Winger" in the Donation Display Name box.

Dave and Kay and Kristy and Jeff, along with another couple, came over to my house after the holidays for dinner. We had such a great time! We did silly little New Year's traditions with funny hats and a decadent chocolate peppermint cheesecake. That's when I learned of Dave's great love of sweets! That is a memory that always makes me smile! Pam Mitchell
