David W. AustinAGE: 84 • Parkville, MD - formerly of WilmingtonDavid W. Austin, 84, affectionately known as Dave, Dad, Pop, Uncle Dave, Davey and Dude, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 surrounded by his wife and children in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born on March 9, 1933 in Wilmington, Delaware. On January 31, 1970, he married the love of his life, Joan Scholl, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing pool, relaxing at the beach, and drawing with pen and ink. He was a devoted Blue Hen.Dave leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Joan Scholl Austin; his two sons and their families: John, Bethan, David and Robert Austin of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Thomas, Lynne and Maya Austin of Wilmington, Delaware. In addition, Dave is survived by three daughters and their families: Suzanne, Harry, Margaret, Griffen, Gannon and Madigan McNeir of Baltimore, Maryland, Stephanie, Tony, Noah and Nathan Purvis of Mechanicsville, Maryland, Deborah, Jake and Josh Brennan of Wilmington, Delaware. He is also survived by his brother, William B. Austin 3rd of Waco, Texas; as well as many other extended family members.A time of gathering will be held on Thursday, August 10 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware. The funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, August 11 at 10:00AM at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington.
