Dean C. Ouellette, age 87, of East Tawas died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City. He was born on June 12, 1925 in Mason to the late Alfred and Owna Ouellette (nee Kennedy). He graduated from Holt High School in 1946. Dean served in the United States Navy as a CB, in Unit #634, and attached to the 114th Construction Battalion. He and his young family resided in Fenton for 12 years. After leaving Fenton, he later owned and operated the Lucon Laundry Mat and the Huronic Beach Resort in Oscoda. Prior to being self-employed, he was an accountant for 14 years. He was a member of the East Tawas American Legion Post 211 and the Tawas United Methodist Church. Dean had a beautiful singing voice and belonged to the church choir along with other singing groups. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and especially eating Helen's good old fashion cooking. Dean is survived by his wife, Helen, whom he married on June 8, 1947 in St. John's. He is also surviving is his son, Dean C. (Dianne) Ouellette Jr.; daughter, Karen (Rick) Rockman; son, Stephan A. Ouellette; son, Robert G. Ouellette; sister-in-law, Waneta Ouellette; eight grandchildren, Melissa (John), Cheryl (Bryan), Ricky (Melanie), Stacey (Rick), Randy (Janice), Jacob (Hannah), Maria (Steve) and Christina; 18 great grandchildren; and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, David C. Ouellette; and brother, Robert Ouellette. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Rest Cemetery in St. John's.
