Dean Marlowe BECKER Obituary

Jan 11, 1959 - Feb 11, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Dean Marlowe Becker1959 - 2017Dean Becker passed away peacefully on February 11, 2017, surrounded by his greatest passion, his family. Beloved son of Frank and Esther Becker, Dean was born on January 11, 1959. From a very young age, Dean's sense of humour shone through. He famously liked to elaborate that he was born on January 11, 12 and 13 because he "was a very big baby". His early years were spent on the family farm – first in Radville, and then in Rocanville. Like all young farm boys, Dean learned to drive from the time his feet reached the pedals and he could barely peek over the steering wheel. That love of driving manifested itself in a love of motorbikes, sleds and vehicles. Many school friends share stories, creating a timeline based on which car was owned (and possibly smashed) at the time. At the age of 25, he met the love of his life - who he later married - Lana Dunsmore. 30 years and 3 children later, very little had changed. Although they were complete opposites, they complemented each other effortlessly. Dean pursued multiple careers in his younger years – a short stint with the railway, trucking, fuel delivery, and as a farm laborer - before eventually becoming a partner in the family farm with Lana's father, Bruce and brother, Calvin. Predeceased by his son Colby and his mother Esther, Dean leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lana Becker, 2 children, Jill Becker and Brady (Candy) Becker, father Frank (Zena) Becker, sister Dale Geck. He is also survived by his loving in-laws Bruce and Eileen Dunsmore, Calvin Dunsmore and Granny Jean Dunsmore, along with numerous family and friends. A quote which the family found sums up Dean's life best, "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What A Ride!" In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation, Regina General Hospital, STARS or Potash Corp Rocanville Community Hall in memory of Dean. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Potash Corp. Rocanville Community Hall, Rocanville, SK. Interment to be held at Webster Cemetery, Rocanville, SK. Please e-mail or sign the online book of condolences at www.carscaddenfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Moosomin, SK.
