Deborah “Debbie” D (Whiddon) Balboni , 64, of Wells, ME, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was born on November 25, 1957 to John L. Whiddon and Marion C. (Tanck) Whiddon in Savannah, GA. Debbie attended Silver Lake Regional High School in Pembroke, MA. In 1974 Debbie met Michael J. Balboni Sr. at Surf in Nantasket , MA on “Teeny Bopper” night. In 1975, Debbie went on to study at Quincy Jr. College in Quincy, MA.
Debbie and Michael were married on October 2, 1976 at St. Thecla's, in Pembroke, MA and would have celebrated their 46th anniversary this year.
Debbie soon kickstarted her 40 plus year career in the car wash industry as a bookkeeper at Brockton Auto Wash in Brockton, MA which was owned and operated by Michael Balboni Sr.’s family.
Debbie and Mike went on to have one child, Michael J. Balboni Jr. in 1980 while living in Plymouth, MA.
In 1994, Debbie and Michael Sr. purchased Manchester Auto Wash (which was previously owned and operated by the first generation Balboni family) in Manchester, NH and they resided Amherst, NH.
In 2016, Debbie and Michael Sr. retired and moved to their vacation home in Kennebunk, ME. The following year they built their current home in Wells, ME. Debbie spent her time enjoying cooking and being near the Maine coast. She was particularly fond of Kennebunk Beach, Mother’s Beach and Maine lighthouses.
Debbie was predeceased by her parents John and Marion Whiddon, her brothers George, Tommy and Steven Whiddon. She is survived by her loving husband Michael J Balboni Sr. of Wells, ME. Her Son Michael J. Balboni Jr. and his partner, Meeghan Sheckler of Manchester, NH; her two granddaughters Gwendolyn and Isabella Balboni of Amherst, NH; her fur grand-baby Louis; her siblings Ronald & (Anita) Whiddon of MA, Marilyn “Mal” Stocks of MA, Randy Whiddon of FL, Erma & (Brian) Drew of TX, Kathy & Buddy Miller of NH and Paul “Kenny” & Rebecca Whiddon of TN; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Sandra (Hebshie) and Eddie Newcomb of Rockland, MA.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
Debbie’s family would like to thank the caring and compassionate team from Cornerstone VNA for making her transition a peaceful one. It meant a lot that her niece Jamie was the nurse by her side.
