Debra Jane CarterDebra Jane Carter, of Shreveport, LA, was born on March 13, 1959. Debbie passed away July 19, 2017 after a brief illness. She devoted most of her adult life caring for her parents, Bob and Jane Carter, until they passed. She loved animals and considered her two dogs, Nikki and Sister, as her own children. Debbie's intricate knowledge of every rock band, their songs and the names of each player and each instrument they played was a gifted trait, like having the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame live and in person. Debbie was a strong believer in the Christian faith. She was a longtime volunteer at Christus Shreveport-Bossier Health System until she passed and always stated how she " . . . loved working with the nuns." As a member of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Elders, where she was to be crowned Duchess at the 2017 Coronation, she felt they were an extended family. Stated by her closest cousin, Joe Davis, "She took life's ups and downs like a pro and never complained-leaving it all in God's hands." She leaves behind a host of family and friends and the love of her life, George Kalmbach, who was with her until the end. Her favorite quote was from the famous John Henry "Doc" Holiday~"There is No normal, there is just life and so you get on with it!"A private celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 26th.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue.
