Dee Bryan Jorgensen Obituary

Mar 07, 1963 - May 19, 2014

This obituary is administered by:
Dee Bryan JorgensenMarch 7, 1963 - May 19, 2014Dee Bryan Jorgensen, age 51, passed away peacefully at his Boise home on May 19th, 2014, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After his diagnosis on March 5th, he spent 31 days in the hospital fighting with everything he had. When the aggressive leukemic cells immediately returned, he chose to spend his last six weeks at home, enjoying his family and revisiting special places. His courage, grace and dignity touched all who knew him during this difficult journey. Dee was born on March 7th, 1963, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Allen Jorgensen and Geraldine Duchscher Jorgensen, the third of four children. He attended Catholic grade school through the third grade, and then his family moved to a lovely acreage along Indian Creek in Inkom, Idaho. He finished grade school in Inkom, and attended Marsh Valley Junior High School and Marsh Valley High School, graduating in 1981. His passion in high school was basketball, and at 6'5", he was an awesome player. Upon graduation, he worked for Simplot at the Pocatello fertilizer plant for six years before returning to college in search of a more challenging and rewarding career. He studied at Idaho State University for three years and then transferred to Colorado State University, where he graduated in 1992 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Dee worked at Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital for 19 years, and spent the last two years of his career with Legacy Home Health. He truly enjoyed helping patients regain some level of independence and developed many wonderful friendships with coworkers and patients, alike.During his first month at college, Dee met and fell in love with Glenda Bradley. They were married in 1989, and spent the next 25 years loving each other, raising their two precious children, Claire and Gavin, and adventuring in the outdoors. Dee enjoyed hiking, camping, skiing, canoeing and yard work. His favorite activity was riding his mountain bike in the Boise foothills. Being a father was truly his greatest joy. Dee was passionate about taking wonderful family vacations every year to share this beautiful world with his wife and children. He often commented that he felt God's presence more in nature than he did in church.Dee was a gentle giant. His soft-spoken personality and gentle nature surprised those who didn't know him. His heart was kind and sincere, and his eyes often held a playful twinkle of mischief. While his passing leaves an incredible emptiness in our hearts, we find comfort knowing that he went peacefully in the arms of his wife, Glenda, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter Claire (20); son Gavin (18); mother Geraldine (Rafael) CdeBaca of Pocatello; father Allen Jorgensen of Pocatello; brother Kenny Jorgensen of Arbon Valley, ID; sisters Cydney Proctor of Afton, WY, and Lisa Beitz of Pocatello; as well as many very special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.A memorial service will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise on Tuesday, May 27th, at 10:00am, followed by burial at Dry Creek Cemetery at noon.In lieu of flowers and at Dee's request, the family suggests donations be made to the Ridge to Rivers Trail System (ridgetorivers.org; City of Boise Parks & Recreation Dept., Ridge to Rivers, 3188 Sunset Peak Rd., Boise, ID, 83702), or Wish Granters, 1365 N.
