Deidra “DD” Jones was born on November 27, 1928, to Obie and Bessie Dorsey in Chicago, Illinois both of her parents preceded her in death. Her mother passed away when she was 3 years old, and her Aunt Rose “Mama Rose” Dorsey-Kelly came from Jackson Mississippi to help raise her brothers’ children she preceded her in death as well.
Deidra Jones was loved by both of her sons Allen Jones and Johnnie “Noonie” Jones, sisters Angelique, Lucille, and Ramona, her grandson Otto, her special friends Otto Jones Sr., Johnnie “Mack” Clayton and Bobby Mosley, her niece Kim Bogan, her daughter-in-law Pearl Jones, daughter Bertha Mae Clayton and a host of family members who all preceded her in death.
Deidra made her transition on December 30th, 2024, at 11:10 am.
Deidra Jones was raised on 47th and Calumet and attended Jean Baptiste Point DuSable High School. She worked for Hamilton Industries for over 30 years as a welder, manufacturing parts for lamps and being vital to the business's success. She lived on 54th Paulina for over 40 years and was known as the grandmother on the block. Deidra was a god-fearing woman who attended Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully paid her tithes.
Deidra leaves to cherish over five generations to her memories Three Children, Otto Jones, Mallory (Shiela) “Spects” Jones, and Chiquita(Carolyn) “Chee Chee” Hodges. Six Granddaughters (Keshia, Earline, Lakeisha, Deidra “Little DD”, Shajuanna, and Dominique. Seven Grandsons (Chauncey, Gejuan, Tobias “Tobby”, Otto III “Bitty”, Dejuan “Mr. Hodges”, Darnell “Spanks” and Kendall). Twenty-six great-grandchildren and a host of great nieces and nephews including Kelli Moody. Three Nieces Sandra (Yusuf) Hasan, Cynthia Deidra Moody, and Ramona Cole, and two Nephews William (Carolyn) Moody and Harry Cole. She had a special place for her forever children Ruthmae Sission, Rosemary Jones, and Dwayne Hodges.
