Delbert A. Curley, age 77, a lifelong resident of Oscoda, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Saginaw. He was born on Dec. 4, 1933, in Oscoda. Delbert owned and operated Oscoda Roofing Company and served the Oscoda Fire Department. In 1954, he raced in the AuSable Canoe Marathon, placing fifth, and in 1955, placing fourth. Delbert considered his children, Mike, Kevin, Jerry and Donny and Kellie, to be the accomplishment he was most proud of. Delbert was famous for his sauerkraut and wine.He is survived by his children, Mike Curley of Baraga, Donny (Jackie) Curley of Newberry, Jerry Curley of Oscoda and Kellie (Dick) Govitz of Beaverton; as well as his brothers, Arnie (Bonnie) Curley of Oscoda and Frank Curley of Oscoda; and sisters, Sylvia (Sam) Harmon of Oscoda, Rozanne Curley of Oscoda and Mary (Ben) Calo of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Cory, Sarah, Brad, Jillian, Stephanie, Matt, Donny, Emma and Tad; and seven greatgrandchildren. Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne E. Curley; son, Kevin Curley; brothers, Gerald, Charlie and Roger; and parents, Harry and Helen Curley. A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda.
