Delia C. Jones, age 86, passed away October 17, 2016. Delia, also known as "Chata" by friends and family, was born on December 23, 1929, in El Paso, Texas, to Elena Ordunez Cordova and Miguel Cordova. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 33 years, Prentiss S. Jones, her two sisters, Ruby C. Quijano (Santos) of El Paso, and Emma C. Blanco (Carlos) of Las Cruces, and her brother, Miguel "Gato" Cordova, Jr. of El Paso. Delia is survived by her brother, Jimmy H. Cordova, and sister-in-law, Doris J. Cordova, of El Paso, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Delia graduated from Bowie High School in 1947. She was employed by the Procurement Division of the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss until she retired in 1988. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Penny, moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she resided for the past 28 years. Delia was devoted to God and family. She lived unselfishly and humbly, and was loyal and loving to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Delia's life will be celebrated on Monday, October 24, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. mass at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd., El Paso, and burial at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Desmond Arnold, H. David Arredondo, M.D., David A. Arredondo, and Cody Owens.
