Della Faye Sanford, 101, died peacefully on Sept. 29, 2016, at Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Center. Della Faye was born on June 2, 1915, in Gatesville, Texas, the daughter of Willie Marshall Pruitt and Mary Etta (Evans) Pruitt. On Dec. 13, 1931, she married Clarence Harley Sanford in Lovington, N.M. They had four children, Glen, Betty, David, and Garland (Buddy).She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1968 and worked as a nurse at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital as well as Betty Dare Good Samaritan Center in Alamogordo.Della Faye was an active member of the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ and lived her life to serve the Lord.She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She loved to crochet and made afghan's for each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. She was also an ardent Dallas Cowboy Football fan, and rarely, if ever, missed a game. Not much compared to Sunday football and watching her "boys". She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Harley, sons Glen and David as well as one granddaughter, Cheryl Ann. Della Faye is survived by her son and his wife, Buddy and Mary Sanford, and her daughter Betty Arthur. She was "Gra" to all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved cat "Kitty Babe" and numerous friends.A private graveside service was held on Monday October 3rd, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements were provided by Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home.
