BRUEGGENDella Mae Brueggen, 86, was a longtime resident of Dayton, KY and for the past 5 years lived in Florence, KY. She recently relocated to Cary, NC where she passed away on Saturday October 8, 2016. Della was born on May 28, 1930 in Newport, KY to the late John L. and Della Bachman Dorgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raymond B. Brueggen in 2012. She was the loving mother of Gary Brueggen (Darlene) of Cary, NC, Greg Brueggen (Karen) of Ft. Collins, CO, M. Elyse "Lisa" Veach (Paul) of Grand Haven, MI, Chris Brueggen (Peggy) of Alexandria, KY and Jayne Bois (Pierre) of Park City, UT. Del is survived by her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her sisters Lucille Gutfreund & Margie Buckley (Burt) and her dear brother Michael "Mickey" Dorgan. Del and Ray were married on November 8, 1947 in Newport KY. Besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was an excellent homemaker and a longtime waitress. Her strong social skills allowed her to have a wonderful career at both Clyde's Steak House and Thomas's F&N Steak House for nearly 40 years. Del volunteered often at Brighton Street Center and had a passion for quilting. She could often be found singing and tap dancing at family parties and had a reputation for the best "mashed potatoes and gravy" and amazing marshmallow fudge. Del was also an avid college basketball fan and loved to travel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St Bernard's Church, Dayton, KY on Saturday November 12, 2016 at 9am, with visitation beginning at 8:30am. This will be followed by interment at St Stephens Cemetery in Fort Thomas, KY. A reception will follow the Mass at St Anthony's Charity Hall in Bellevue, KY. The family will join after the cemetery.
