NEWPORT NEWS - Delores Thomas Lowe passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Delores was a native of Glen Burnie, Maryland and a resident of Hampton for over 30 years. She was born on January 27, 1931 to Lennie Richard and Iva Watson Thomas and was the older sister to one brother, Lennie Jr. After graduating from Glen Burnie High School, she was employed as a stenographer at Fort George G. Meade, in Maryland. She married the love of her life, William Lloyd Lowe on April 30, 1949 and together they had two daughters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Delores was a gifted homemaker and seamstress. For many years, she lovingly created all the clothes her daughters wore including prom dresses and a wedding gown. One of her greatest loves was teaching third graders in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also served in many capacities through the years in the Women's Missionary Union of her church. She had a fun-loving spirit, joy of life and an infectious laugh. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her two daughters Sharon and her husband, Dave, Joyce and her husband Neal; four grandchildren, Billy, Megan and her husband Chris, Matthew and his wife Miranda, and Christy and great grandchildren, Kaylee, Jayden and Logan. The family would like to thank Jamie Washington, Rona Neubia, and the Monticello staff at The Gardens of Warwick Forest for their years of loving and faithful caregiving. A celebration of her life will be held at Parkview Baptist Church on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Rusty Beck officiating.
